Abstract: Too often dust collection systems are considered mystical, ineffective, and a waste of capital and maintenance expense.  Yet, common sense does apply even in many dust collection applications, there is often little thought given to the final collection point: the hood. Hoods can be the most important part of the system; if the hood is located poorly or designed inadequately, then the system will not collect the dust effectively.
