QF In Line Spark Trap 2.0

New improved design!

  • Even lower pressure loss
  • Improved design based upon flow design analysis
  • Can be installed into duct line in vertical or horizontal position
  • Reduced risk of internal buildup (snag-free construction)
  • Quick clamp disassembly for sizes up to 18 inches
  • Powder-coated mild steel construction

Installed in ducting as part of a dust collection system, the Nordfab Quick-Fit® In-line Spark Trap 2.0 greatly reduces the possibility of fire in cyclones / collectors by decreasing the number of sparks which could reach the cyclone or collector through the ductwork.

  • No moving parts and no power required for operation.
  • Minimal pressure loss
  • Can quickly and easily be mounted into Quick-Fit ducting systems, or other duct systems with use of a Nordfab adapter, and the trap can easily be removed for cleanout.
  • For flanged applications, order our Spark Trap AFL Assembly which includes a Spark Trap and two Angle Flange Adapters.
  • Calibration or other assistance from a factory technician is not required.
  • QF Spark Traps are a Nordfab Now® product so items in the most commonly used sizes and material are in stock and can typically be shipped the day after order placement. Let Nordfab or your authorized dealer know if your order is urgent.

This is a simple, low-cost tool that can reduce incidents of fire events, reducing costs and disruption and improving safety. System redundancy and complementary measures should be applied.

  • Sturdy construction - heavier gauge, powder-coated mild steel
  • Available in diameters up to 24"
  • Available as an AFL Assembly with angle flange adapters for flanged applications

Contact Nordfab or your local Nordfab dealer for assistance with larger sizes and material / gauge options.

Quick-Fit ducting has been used in a wide variety of applications, wherever dust collection or fine particulate transfer is required. Quick-Fit saves time and money on installation, is easy to clean out, is adaptable to existing ductwork, and is easily re-used during shop floor reconfigurations. Learn more about why Quick-Fit may be the best solution for you.

View our test demonstration of the In-line Spark Trap in a duct line. For this video, we simulated a metal grinding installation in which sparks might be generated and enter the airstream flowing in from below Spark Trap 2.0. As you can see, in the airstream exiting the Trap, sparks have been extinguished.

To help design our updated Spark Trap, we used flow design software to simulate the travel of steel sparks through the Trap.

The video above illustrates the velocity of the air slowing from the diameter change, and rotating into a turbulent path, stripping the spark from its boundary layer, and creating a longer path of travel to allow the spark to fully extinguish before leaving the device.
